A question that I am constantly asked is, how to learn new things as an entrepreneur.
Becoming a first time entrepreneur is a journey.
There is lots of information floating around, as well as tools and systems to learn and understand.
One of the things that I love about running my own business, is that I learn something new every single day.
My brain doesn’t have the opportunity to get bored.
This blog post explores the 1 tool that I use to help me remember all the new things that i learn – mind maps.
Mind maps are a thinking tool that was originally developed by Tony Buzan to help trigger the parts of our brain that control our memory and creative thinking.
Mind maps, are basically written reflections of our thoughts.
They combine your traditional verbal and numerical intelligence with your creativity to provide you with a tool.
The brain has the ability to process and organise things at the same time.
Mind maps are a fun and fast way for presenting, remembering and organising your thoughts.
Did you know, that more than half of our learning has the ability to disappear overnight if we don’t review it.
To make a mind map, and to use it as a tool as to how to learn new things, you can do the following:-
1 – Write down your topic in the middle of the page.
2 – Branch out and write down each of your sub-topics. Make sure that you use a different colour for each.
3 – Add keywords and points to the branches.
4 – Emphasise the keywords and points by using the following:-
There are a number of great apps that you can use if you want to go digital instead of pen and paper.
I highly recommend using mind maps as a hack as to how to learn new things.
It is fun, fast and have you remembering things that you have learnt in a unique way, rather than just writing notes.
